Thinking about buying 535i (archive)

I got a 320i now and my brother in law has an 88 m5 that i have driven a couple times. I love it!! He just crashed my 320i when we went out one night. So i might be fixing it or getting a 535. Not sure if im gonna get rid of 320i i got bilstien sport and eiboch springs on it. Fun little car but cant fit anybody in it and it not fast enough. What model year is best? Any years have more problems than others and what should i expect to pay. THX for the info
