Unplug the 2 switches on the top driver's side of the radiator. Jumper the terminals of the top one (low speed), then jumper the terminals of the bottom one (high speed). If the fan runs with the bottom one jumpered only (with key turned to run), you probably need a new fan resistor located on the front of the radiator (follow the wiring from the 2 switches). Easy fix, just make sure to get the right one (they used two different kinds)--about $30 for either one. Good luck,
Scott
I have a 87 535i. My secondary fan does not come on. I checked the fan and it works fine. I can even hook it up to a manual switch to turn it on or off. But on its own it does not turn on when the car gets hot or I am sitting in rush hour. Any ideas on what it may be? I am thinking it may be the temp sensor. Any ideas would be great.

Thanks,

Christopher
