is supposed to compensate for SMALL differences in running condition to keep things legal. Kind of like fine tuning something which is almost perfect to begin with. Unplugging it in this situation shouldn't make the car run noticibly worse and probably somewhat better.

But... If your sensor was compensating for bigger problems (wrong fuel pressure, leaking injector, etc.) the disconnecting it would reveal the effects of teh BIG problem and the car would run badly.

Do a fuel pressure check (along with a 10 minute leak-down check), check your temp sensor values (Bentley has a chart), try swapping AFMs etc.

.
The car ran like sh@#! It idled terribly, had bad low end power and smelled really gassy. The only time it ran well was in the high RPM range (like 4K+).

I prefer the light "trailer hitch" action under acceleration to the "loading up" in the open loop config., but I thought that these cars were supposed to run pretty well in open loop. Could I have a fuel delivery (too much) problem??
