I've used a lot of Griot's Products and other products. Note, I used only hand products, no machines.

I like the 3M rubbing compound - it's very efficient for well oxidized surfaces.

I like Griot's Garage Find Hand Polish the best. It gets rid of swirl marks on both clearcoat and non-clearcoated paint. It literally works miracles. It is the best $12 (or however much it is) you can spend.

I've found the Griot's wax does the same, very hard to buff out. But I've also found that any off-the-shelf Meguiars or anything else there is not a very good wax - it doesn't last as well as Griots nor shines as well on the Red paints (both clear and non-clear) that I have. On the black (clear coated) car, most off-the-shelf waxes look good, but it is also a very new car compared to the E28. I once had the benefit of the Zymol wax on the E28 (not even the $100 Concours, but the regular type) and it is head and shoulders above the rest.

Am I willing to pay for Zymol? Yes. But I find the Griots wax is a pretty good value as is. Will I go back to Griots or other products? No, not for my pride and joy. For a beater or daily driver yes, but not for mint or great condition cars. That is where Zymol works wonders.

3M also makes a good product called the Hand Glaze. Really shines well. Their wax is ok, but cheaper than Griots. Seems to work better on clear coated cars.

Griots Speed Shine and Meguiars speed shine work well between waxes as well. I'd also recommend a duster, especially in the spring with all the pollen. Every week, dust the car, and then speed shine. 30 minutes of work saves a ton of energy every month or two when it's time to wash/wax the car.

Also, I like Griot's wheel cleaner. No acids or any of that junk on the wheels.

Hope this helps.

I use all the Griot's Garage products and like the speed shine the best. I like the results of the wax, but find that it is difficult to remove after you let it dry for a few minutes. The McGuire's seems to dry to a dust and is easier to remove. I'm about to try Zymol soon, but maybe it also drys "creamy" like the Griots.

Good luck!
