Yes, there is an awful lot of info on this subject in the archives. The "is" had the same springs, but specially valved Bilstein shocks which made the suspension movement better dampened.

You give no information on your intended driving application; track, street, autocross, etc, which has a huge bearing on how you should tweak the suspension. Nor do you say how many miles are on your current suspension. Maybe you have worn out bushings that are causing less than desireable handling characteristics.

Your word, "stiff", is rather non-specific, but unless your springs have a LOT of miles on them, it would make sense to look to shocks or larger diameter anti-roll bars first as a means of improving handling without fully giving up the comfort for which that these cars are known (I am assuming that your application is mostly street, here). BMW springs are very high quality and last a long, long time.
