Ok, I asked a question here a few weeks ago but there was no response. Trust me, I did a search on the subject in all digests and FAQ's, but I can't seem to find the specific answers I'm looking for. Without going into detail, my car runs way too lean off idle (0.1-0.2%) resulting in poor driving (very sluggish, hesitating etc.). If I want to get some get up and go out of it, I have to push the pedal in almost to the kickdown point (It's a 85 525i automatic). The car is original and never has been tampered with, so I guess from what I've been reading I should open up the AFM to correct the too lean condition. CO readings are right on the nose at idle, 1-1.5% by the way. Somebody here should be able to help me out, so from one bimmer nut to another, here are my questions again: 1. Is the AFM the problem here, or are you just bypassing the real problem like clogged injectors or something?
2. Should the CO reading typically be the same for off idle (1000 RPM and up) as it is for idle?
I hope I get some response this time, before I start fiddling with it.
Thanks in advance.
