SPEEDO PROBLEM
Here's what I'd do re the bad speedo:
-Check what works and what doesn't. If NOTHING works that uses distance/speed info (speedo/odo/cruise control/fuel econ. gauge/OBC avg mpg & mph (after resetting), check the sensor on the back of the differential. Make sure it's plugged in. I'd also check the sensor itself with an ohmmeter. The sensor acts like a switch that opens and closes as the car moves. (Check the switch, roll the car a little, check again, etc.) While you're back there with an ohmmeter, check the resistance of the sensor cable (with the car off). It should be very high, like over 1 megaohm.
-If the sensor checks out, remove the speedo (remembering which wires go where), remove its plastic back, and check all the solder joints. I'd probably reflow them all just in case.FAN PROBLEM
You refer to the fan blades (plural). The blades do not come off individually- the fan comes off as a unit.
On my car, the fan attaches to the water pump via a large nut (32mm). Turn the nut CLOCKWISE (the "wrong way") to loosen it. You may have to strike the wrench initially to start the nut. After you get the nut undone, you can remove the bolts that attach the fan clutch to the fan. The Bentley Manual (an excellent investment, BTW) says to keep the fan clutch upright (which I assume means the same way it is in the car) or the oil in it will leak out.
HTH
Recently my speedometer quit, thus laying waste to my onboard computer, and my odometer as I am sure you know. What is the most likely problem and where do I start to fix this problem. Also, I can't seem to get my fan blades disconnected so that I can replace them. I would appreciate any help that anyone can offer, Thanks, AA
