My only experience with this anomoly was in my old '87 535is...your situation sounds about the same; all guages (less speedo) were working fine, but any/all OBC functions pertaining to vehicle movement were inoperative. As suggested, I had checked the speed sensor in the diff, traced all the wires back toward the front of the vehicle...everything looked fine. Had my mechanic check the reference voltage, and nothing came up. He ended up having to pull my speedo and send it out somewhere in Atlanta for repair. Apparently, it had somehow shorted out and 'melted'. Same exact problem happened to my buddy's '87 325i, so it must just be "one of those bimmer things".

Hope this helps.

Cheers!

Recently my speedometer quit, thus laying waste to my onboard computer, and my odometer as I am sure you know. What is the most likely problem and where do I start to fix this problem. Also, I can't seem to get my fan blades disconnected so that I can replace them. I would appreciate any help that anyone can offer, Thanks, AA
