Sounds like you've got the original/premium head without the amp? My original (premium system)used to sound very sweet/clean. Plenty loud at highway speeds, and very clean. I replaced it with a Blaupunkt Sydney, but I don't think it sounds as good as the original. The original came down with the dreaded pops/cracking when adjusting the volume..

Anyhow, below is a link that describes some of the wiring for the stock system.

Good luck!

Had to replace the stock dead radio with one from a member in this newsgroup....Thanks Ray!! I looked in the Archives, but couldn't find much info about the Stock Amp.

I have to crank the volume up to about 3/4 (3 o'clock position) to get enough volume to hear while running with the windows open on the freeway. Is this about normal for a stock radio?? Also, there is a flat cable labeled AMP in the dash, but couldn't find where it connects up. Did different model radios have an output for the amp or is it wired up from the L & R outputs from the radio. Also what is the yellow and white wire coming out of the radio. Seema it has power on them. Thanks for any info.
