Sluggish 535i (archive)

Hi all,

My car is sluggish and hesitates some when I mash on the accelerator or press it to the floor for kickdown. The car goes okay but the hesitation shouldn't be there. I had a 1977 530i (rode very hard before I even bought it) and when I punched the 'kickdown' the car would push me back in my seat. My 85 535i just won't do it. Granted, it is fast, but nothing like the '77. Any ideas?
