I had similar issues with my 83 533i. Thermostat, higher volume water pump, fan clutch (which is bad again by the way), remove and completely steam clean the radiator, and radiator flush. All to no avail. What really did the trick is replacing the radiator. From what the locals around here tell me, these radiators are notorious for calcium deposits. Especially if you're mixing your coolant with tap water in a hard water area (which I am not doing anymore).

My advice, replace the radiator, then when you mix water with your coolant, make sure it's distilled water.

Good luck,

Kit
