Hi,
I ran into the same thing when I pulled mine, Where the hell are the two "AA" ni-cads I've been reading about?!
Anyway, you can order them at Radio Shack. They are a "special order" item, but they will deliver them to your home. I think the total damage came to only about 24.00 or so. They come with solder tabs attached and a long wire connected to both ends. I just snipped the wire and soldered them into the tabs connected to the board. The tricky part was getting the old ones out as it seemed they are spot welded into the tabs. I CAREFULLY worked them loose with a tiny eyeglass flat screwdriver, making sure not to detach them from the board or bend them too much
