I'll be buying a new E28 shortly(if I can find one), and I wanted a 535is. I searched the archives for differences, and here are some questions for you all. Thanks in advance.

-Do all 535is's come with front spoilers?
Yes and a rear spoiler
-Do all 535is's come with body-colored mirrors?
Don't know
-Do all 535is's come with LSDs?
Some did, but not all have an LSD.
-Do 535is's have ///M on the instrument cluster?
Don't believe so.
-What is different about the 535is suspension? Bilstein shocks, possibly springs and swaybars.
-How is the ECU different in the 535is?
It's the same as a standard 535i, no differences in the engine or drivetrain.

Basically the 535is was BMW NA answer to having a Sport version of the 535i. The additional parts where to be installed by the dealership during make-ready. That's why there is variability in what was done to the suspension and the rearend. In some cases only the seats, steering wheel and spoilers where put on the car by less than honest dealerships. All this is what I've seen posted on this forum and if you search the archives you should find it.
