Using ATE super blue and race pads (Cool Carbons on E34 535i brakes now, but used to use stock rotors and calipers with PF80 pads) I have had no instances of brake fade. The first thing that I suggest new driving school participants invest in is a set of race pads. They will last a long time and will ensure the best braking available on the track. Fading brakes are not only unsettling, but seriously unsafe. Lack of brakes is something that no one should experience during a school.
If the participant is hooked, the next thing that I suggest is a set of pure track tires. In the long run, a set of shaved street tires (Toyos) for the track or a set of R compound tires (Kumhos are what I recommend now that the A008rs are NLA) will save you money and ensure consistency in the driving experience. While these do stick better, so long as the attitude is good, the stick is just a byproduct.
I like the repaved track, but think that turn 3 has been ruined. It used to be my favorite turn on the track, but the substantially taller curbing on the inside of the corner has really changed the character. Even a slightly early apex into that corner yeilds serious upset for the car, this corner doesn't have the kind of runoff room needed when a car really gets out of shape while exiting the corner. The additional dragon's teeth is a nice touch, but its still not nearly as much fun.
Overall 2 thumbs up for the repaving. Big thumbs down for the additional curbing on 3, 4, & 10.
