That fuse goes to a lot of things, any of which, if malfunctioning, could blow the fuse. If you're comfortable using a multimeter, whip it out, get yourself a Bentley manual, and get started.
Here's a probably incomplete list of the duties of fuse 6.
-It powers the cruise control.
-It runs the power mirrors.
-It goes to the power windows, but all it does is turn on a relay; it doesn't power the window motors.
-It goes to the active check system, where it powels the dashboard check light, the seatbelt indicator light, the O2 light if you have one, and the caption illumination on the active check unit.
-It goes to the instrument cluster, including the PRND12 lights.
-It powers the backup lights
-It goes to the temperature control unit (the gadget behind the temp. knob)
-If you have a car made in '86 or later, it powers the fresh air vent servo motor.
-It powers the oxygen sensor heater.
-It probably powers the idle speed control unit, if you have one (1982 was powered from fuse 1)
ok I've replaced it at least 6 times, why is the fuse which controls the power windows and dash guages constantly blowing out on me?
