engine heats up when ... off...??? (archive)

While running the engine the temp stays normal (12:00 position), but when I stop for a minute or two (like to get gas) and then start it back up it is more in the 1:00 position. Within 30 secs it cools down to normal and runs fine from there. Anyone have any experience with this?? Your thoughts and comments are greatly appreciated, Thanks
