We have harnesses in our cars to hold us in place during high-G maneuvering, like on the track and autocross course. They tuck discreetly away beneath the front seats for the drive home.
Sometimes I see cars in the grocery store or Home Depot parking lot that scream "Pay attention to me!" with lots of wings, spoilers, lowered suspension, chrome exhaust tips, fancy wheels, decals, you know the type. Many even have aluminum high-grip pedals, racer style seats, and big fat harnesses inside. But when I check the tires, they've obviously never been driven hard, no signs of tread feathering or sidewall rollover. The owner is more interested in looking like he thinks a racer would look, than in acquiring and exercising the racer's skills.
I'd rather gain the skills in a subtle car. But what do I know? I'm a graying 39 year old father of three, and no cool 16 year old would want to be seen in the same sort of cars I drive. Just watch your mirrors through turns five and six, because my sedate family hauler luxu-barge will be on your poseur's tail :-)
