Hi Everyone,
I was reading Josh's post below about "Who Gets Challanged By Whatever..." Some of us have to come to the realization that our nice BMW 528e's and 535i's are NOT race cars. They are comfortable sport sedans (Like the Audi 90 quattro with 130hp or the awesome Maxima). The truth is, If you took your 535i and a Mustang GT at a stop light, you would lose. I could care less about what people say. So many of the people on the board say their car's handle better than a corvette!! I would like to see some of you come out to Limerock, Watkins's Glen, Summit Point or Mid Ohio (all tracks I have been on) and see their car outhandle a corvette. It is not going to happen. If you invest $3500 in a suspension, sure it will. But once you hit a straight, you are toast! If the guy in the corvette invests $1000 in suspension, he will lap you over and over... So let's just accept our cars for what they are. They are overweight comfortable sport sedans. Nothing more. I love my 535i. I think it is a fast car, but compared to what is out there today (Maxima, 3.5tl, Passat GLX) our cars are not up to par. If anyone wants to see how well their cars handle in a real controlled situation, SIGN UP FOR A TRACK EVENT. I suggest a Quattro Club or BMWCCA event. Don't be surprised when you get passed by hyundai, 110 HP Audi 4000, or a ford escort GT.
