Well, this morning I took out the cluster, intending to put new remote batteries in the SI board. I'd had the cluster apart once before, my first E28, and figured if several others can do it, I could.

Unfortunately, when the board was out, the two Varta original batteries had leaked a little bit, and some of the tracks on the back of the board did not show continuity when tested. Now, I could solder in a bunch of thin wires, but the board would look like fur when I got done, and no telling how long until the next track went south. Some of the solder points in the neighborhood of the batteries are pretty pitted, viewed through a strong magnifying glass. The edge of the board is showing some disintegration, enough so that one track right at the edge is kaput.

SO... I will get a new/used board. Will call Programa, and the local yards, but does anyone on this list have a board for me? The EPROM on the SI board is marked 992 646083; the central portion of the gage section is marked 110 003/228/101 then on another line 1376539.

Buzz me on or off list, let's make a deal.
