I guess you didn't read my post on July 19th, "Mods worked great on my '85 528e"
The single most noticeable improvement is to install a JC Chip. 20hp right off the bat! A week later I put in just a replacement K&N filter and Bosch Silver spark plugs. Runs a hell of a lot smoother and with better pull through the higher RPM's. I have to drive mine daily like you and since the changes it's been a lot more pleasant and fun. Mine is a 5spd. Due to our premium gas prices and especially now with the JC Chip, I'm going to leave the stock rearend in because I'm getting over 300 miles on a tank, but a 3.25 LSD would sure be a nice boost!

I was looking for a reliable daily driver to keep the miles off my M3 and found a friend-of-a-friend selling a '87 528e in showroom condition.

Any suggestions on where to go for more information on the car (is there a good FAQ or etc)? Any suggestions on modifications (grin)? I'm already thinking TMS/Conforti chip, Cone Filter kit, and UUC short-shift kit.

Thanks,
