Good Morning,
Well, after many months of staring at most of the parts for a stereo upgrade I dove in yesterday. I removed the center console and re-assembled with no problems. Now I have lost the "P" indicator when it is indeed in Park. Where does this light get its input from? On a related note, over the last year the "D" will occasionally come on but never for any great amount of time and/or consistency. Where is this input located?

As soon as I get the stereo job done, I will post some notes and any helpful info.

Thanks,
Darin S.

On my '85 535i, there is a light bar in the instrument cluster that pops out and can be had for about $75 (a year or two ago). An ohm meter and a soldering iron and you can get your lights back in shape by removing burned out lights and soldering in new ones. Good luck!
