Hey Kevin,
Thanks for the understanding. While I was running the wires to the drivers speaker I had the chance to pull the relay and re-seat it but I wasn't having the problem then. I will go back and do that. I have thought about replacing all the parts in the blinker circuit. I mean how much can it cost, it has all of 2 moving parts! This simple electrical problem is starting to wear on the nerves.

Hi Darin. I can really sympathize with you. I have had some weird electrical gremlins pop in on my 87 528e. Here are some things you may need:

1. A old priest
2. A young priest
3. A valium
4. A 12-pack

On a serious note, I had a rapid-fire turn signal then intermittentally inoperative turn signal. I believe that it also sent false faoult indications to the check panel. I found the root of the problem was in the turn signal relay, located within the steering wheel column on the underside. Very strange, I found the relay had a coating as if someone had accidentally spilled coffee or coke down the steering column (Previous Owner, not me!). This was definately causing problems. I hosed the area down with electrical contact cleaner. I did remove the steering wheel to access the relay, sounds worse of a task than it really is. I purchased a new one from a BMW supply an only this past weekend I saw a import turn signal flasher relay in Pep Boys that I think would have worked at around $10.00.

Anyway, you might want to think about looking down around your relay for a source of the evili demon possessing you car. Good luck and keep us posted!
