... 3M's "Windo-Weld" in a caulk-type tube (sorry, I can't recall the part #). This stuff will stay very flexible and bonds better to the paint and rubber. It also flows out easily, so if you put too much under the edge of the gasket, it'll ooze out and let the seal settle down; you can easily remove the stuff with wax/silicone/adhesive remover. Silicone is the last thing you'd want to use, as it can't be removed by solvents.That having been said, if the window opening is clean (i.e. without dried sealant), you should theoretically be able to do it without needing anything. If it ends up leaking, the Windo-Weld can be shot underneath the edge easily once you remove the lock strip.
I'm in the process of replacing my windshield and by the design of the seal, it appears as though no adhesive is necessary although when I removed the windshield a small bead of silicone was applirf just inside the outer part of the seal. Does anyone know if this is required or recommended? Thanks for any help.
