I have a 1987 535is and I want to replace the engine hood pad insulation.
The normal stuff I've seen doesn't look very durable. I've noticed 1988 528e's have a more modern 1 piece design.
Does anyone know if this will fit a 535is? Any clearance problems?

Thanks

Joe

I just finished doing this job on my 535i by scraping off the old pad, drawing a pattern on some heat insulation/sound deadening pad with the foil radiant barrier. The material is 3/8"-1/2" thick, I did not cut out for the expansion tank cap and there is no fit problems. It looks good too!
