Euro Harness explained (archive)

Take a look at the back of your headlights (open the hood and remove the black rubber/plastic/whatever cover. See the connectors? that's the American connector/harness. The Euro harness is slightly different in its configuration. The configuration makes it where you can't plug the American harness you have into the Euro lights. Not directly, at least.

If you want to use your American harness to make it where all four lights light up when you flip on the high beams, you'll need to remove the back cover of the Euro lights and plug the American harness directly into the bulb.

It's better, in my opinion, just to cut off the American harness, splice the wires for the Euro harness (the wire colors are intuitive), and plug it into the rear of the Euro headlight casing. This way, you don't have to worry (as much) about water getting onto the connections, messing up the connection, causing a spark, setting your car on fire, blowing up the world, and completely dooming mankind forever. . .

. . . ok, so I got a little carried away.

Anyway, many of us on the board have done the Euro install. Honestly, I don't know of any other links that you can check out that tell you what's involved in the Euro light installation process. So, it's without shame that I present you with the link to my own Euro light installation. :-)

Good luck on finding and installing them. It's well worth it! Unless, of course, you pay like $350 or $400 for them, lol.
