We are talking about the lower control arms that are lateral only, the upper arms are lateral and more importantly, fore and aft locators as well. It's this fore and aft locating that pounds the bushings in the upper arms.

I went with Bavarian Auto Sports Lower control arms that included there Heavy Duty bushings already installed for $144 each!

I had them on my E34 535i and just ordered them for my E28 535is.
