In Reply to: WHY DO MY SPORT SEATS KEEP MOVING BACK? posted by adrianinflorida on August 26, 2001 at 09:35:08:

I have power seats, but not sport seats, in my '86 535i. I guess sport seats weren't available then. Anyhow, I have the ETM for '86, and if your wiring is like mine (and your seats don't have some weird memory feature), then I have a SWAG for you.

Look under your seat. There's a connector there with two rows of pins. One row has 7 pins, and one row has 6 (i.e. 13 pins altogether.)

Look at the row with 6 pins. At one end of this row there's a Blue & Yellow wire that goes through the connector and becomes a Green wire.

My guess is that one of these wires is getting grounded somewhere. This is equivalent to holding the button.

Another possibility is that the driver's elbow is hitting the button, but I expect you thought of that.

The Blue & Yellow wire comes from the seat backward button. You ground this wire to make the seat move backward.
The Green wire goes to a couple of relays in the seat which supply power to the motor to make it go backwards.

HTH

My sport seats keep moving back to the same position that I usually drive from./ IF I try to move them forward then after about one minute they move back to the old position. What the hell is going on?
