In my ultimate quest for zero vacuum leaks, this weekend was the ever so easy oil pan change. I have to admit it did solve the slight rough idle problem i had. Low and behold, when i got the pan off, and I was looking inside of my engine for the first time, I noticed that the gear directly above the oil pump is worn, not the one attached to the oil pump, but above it. Teeth are almost pointed. Is this sucker attached to the crankshaft? How do you get into it? Radiator, timing chain cover,ect... What happens if this bugger slips?

Crap, crap, crap
