Where is the service engine resetter at. (archive)

i have an 86 e28 and before i had it someone didn't have the proper tool to reset the tune up and service engine light on the instrument panel the green and red indecator bar. I need to know how to plug that back in, and reset it. Could someone tell me where it is and how to reset it.
