I got the old bashed pan off with relatively few bashed nuckles, I am waiting arrival on a new pan, oil level sender and oil pan gasket.

Bentley says to use a gasket sealer...Brett Anderson has posted not to use any additional sealer. Any thoughts? I don't want to do this job again for a while!

The aviation grade or #2 (non-hardening) has been my favorite for places I don't think I'll ever need to disassemble. For "problem" joints where the sealing surfaces aren't good, you can use Permatex #1 (hardening). RTV will eventually swell and soften, but Permatex is forever!
