I'm speaking in generalities here. The poor guy asked a general question regarding the car. Is this better:
"For most people, a bit over 230 bhp in these cars is more than you need."
Better? Does it take care of the general buying public and take care of you rabid enthusiasts out there? ;-)

Seriously though, I'm of the school that says to modify the driver, not the car. :-) To take a line from Pirelli, "Power is Nothing Without Control." It's the nut behind the wheel that counts.

Plus, absolutist bhp is not necessarily what you're looking for. Power to weight ratio is the good stuff, just like you said! :-) Get an E28 down to 2700 lbs (which is possible), and stick in a turbo M30 @ around 350 bhp for a 0.13 power/weight ratio. The new M5 is only at 0.10, and the Z8 at 0.115. Now that's fun stuff. :-)

Huh? Howzzat? Whudesay?

This makes absolutely no rational sense to me, and English is my mother tongue. Did I miss the switch to some other language?

Or are they teaching you some kind of new math there at MIT, where 230>>infinite?

The only car I can imagine might be described as having enough HP/weight would be a Dinan turbo ///M Coupe. And I'll reserve judgement on that until someone lets me drive one :-)
