if you dont want to do the job again use a gasket sealant! i too like permatex copper silicone RTV sealant but permatext #2 is good too
clean mating surfaces and degrease with alcohol, brake cleaner, ect. follow directions! too much of either stuff on gasket can cause problems. tighten pan bolts gradually and in a crisscross pattern.

I got the old bashed pan off with relatively few bashed nuckles, I am waiting arrival on a new pan, oil level sender and oil pan gasket.

Bentley says to use a gasket sealer...Brett Anderson has posted not to use any additional sealer. Any thoughts? I don't want to do this job again for a while!
