"High Tack" on the pan to hold it in place and grease on the gasket and the block so the gasket comes off clean and reusable if I need to drop the pan in the future. On non-precision machined pans (like domestics) Permatex brush-on is the BEST.RTV should only be used where there is no gasket, since it squeezes out and allows the gasket to do teh same (slippery stuff).
