Let me start by first saying thanks to everyone on this board for the help they provide (no, I'm not just trying to butter anyone up so they'll answer this question, I just enjoy reading / posting here). My '83 533i 5sp. has a problem that I just can't seem to track down. Just off of idle it hiccups quite badly. Wether I'm starting from a stop or coming back on the gas while coasting down the freeway, about 50% of the time it momentarilly stalls - violently enough to lock the seatbelts - then takes off. with that exception, power is normal across the board and it idles great (after a new ICV, purge valve and O2 sensor). I've read all the back posts I can find and tested everything I can think of. I've run the Bently's battery of tests at the ECU terminal, checked all the relays/fueses, verified both grounds (engine mount and valve cover), checked the TPS, and temp sensors, been through two cans of carb cleaner looking for vac. leaks. Nothing! What am I missing? I'm worried one day soon the hiccup is going to be accompanied by an expensive sounding bang as my driveline/tranny gives under the strain. TIA for any ideas!
