I have a whrirring noise in mine to, but I only have a ZF-4HP22. Mine makes the sound when moving mainly when cruising.

I had the whole thing rebuilt (due to other problems) and they had to put a new torque converter assembly in. (it was completely had-it, the supplier did not even want it back to re-build it). Anyway the noise is STILL there.

In my case I think it is the fluid channels and the movement of the fluid.... Don't really know, can anyone expand on my noise???
I have the car booked in for a tranny service this week, so I will let you know what they say.

Probably doesn't help you to much though.

I have a heavy throttle or no throttle whir from what sounds like the rear of my tranny (85 Alpina B7 turbo). Is there a bearing in these trannies that is a weak link and can it be replaced with out opening the whole tranny...that is from the back of the case? The rest of the tranny seems ok so I don't want to replace it just yet
