Dogbones: about five inches long, with large bolts going vertically through either end. They're placed below the trailing arm, on the outermost part of where the arm attaches, one per trailing arm. They contain bearings, not bushings, and as such would not benefit from urethane.

Trailing arm bushings: these are located in the trailing arm (hence the name) where it pivots on the rear subframe/carrier, and there are two per trailing arm, aligned horizontally. K-mac makes adjustable urethane replacements for these.

Subframe bushings: these are located in the subframe (hence the name) and are located at either end, one per side, aligned vertically. These are not available in urethane for E28s (urethane inserts exist for other BMWS, such as E12s), but can be filled with pourable urethane. See Ed's page on custom-making these.

I know this stuff is in the archive, ive read most of it but confused a few things still...
I have learned it is my dog bone bushings? but I have heard it called different names, I just want to get them straight

can they also be called rear trailing arm bushings, or rear subframe bushings.

and do you know where the best place to them, and do they make urethane for these?
