The chrome window trim is sprayed onto the melamine. It fades or better said wears off. To see it again, you have to replace the window trim. I prefer mine blacked out. The only places that are chrome are the corners which are real pieces of metal. Likewise, I hate the chromed plastic kidneys in the grill, so I sanded them down and painted them black also. It looks BAD!
