My 85' 528e was draining the battery which is brand new, alt was working well and I couldn't figure it out. Then the other day I went to adjust my seat and it wouldn't (power seats) and I realized that the motor was stuck! I had exhausted almost everything else...I'm sure it's a long shot for you, but it's worth a look. Good Luck.

P.S. - I just purchased a 92 325i so it looks like I'll be doing twice the reading on the boards. Funny thing is even after I sell the 5er, I know I will still be reading this board.
