With the cluster absent, the alternator light is out of the charging circuit, which prevents the alternator from functioning, so your battery won't charge. Not to say you can't drive the car, just don't try to drive it more than a few miles, and don't use the headlights, radio, power windows, etc. If you drive without a functioning alternator, eventually the car will start to stumble, or just stall, and you won't be able to start it again, because your battery will be discharged. The cruise control gets its speed signal from the speedometer, so of course if there's no speedometer the cruise control won't work.
The car runs, But is it OK to run the car without the gauge cluster??
