Gruppe-
Am looking at a very clean and tidy '88 535iA here in SoCal. Needs wheels and tires, as still shod with worn out TRX's, but have questions for group intelligence apropos the rest of the suspension.
Primarily need to know the best spring/bar and shock setups to look at to upgrade the handling a bit while maintaining sufficient ride height so as not to bottom out on every dip and keep a sensibly comfortable ride. A performance-street package is what I seek--and looking for suggestions and prior experience from you all to help me out.
TIA-
Peter

Peter;
I've set up four E28's of my own,and advised several others since 1989 on street/track set-ups for BMWs,especially 5 series.Been addicted since 1974.
The best excellent street ride,going fast or slow,with also excellent track handling for drivers'schools has been one of two.
1.Eibachs with Konis and S.T. bars.
2.Eibachs with HD Bilsteins and R.D. bars.
The Eibachs have given me well over 100k in three cars with excellent results.The Konis on my first w/S.T. bars ran 80k over 5 years,and caught M5's ontrack.
Used Bilstein HD's on 2nd and third w/Eibachs and R.D. bars,using larger tires,ran up another 40/50K with no problems.

Now am setting up current'87 535is,which again will use Eibach,Bilstein Hd's,R.D. bars,and 17x8.5" rims.With 7 series brakes and 3.73LSD,etc.,and a few tricks,expect M5 track performance again.
