RonW, you make 2 very excellent points in your followup here, my thoughts exactly about the whole never ending fake badge theory. Sometimes, they are works of art, and these days BMW is all things. There is a florescent porsche-purple e28 on autotrader for god's sake. 2 grand, of course it is a 528e. Usually, those red M badged cars-or the one's craving attention-they don't drive too fast. It's all show. They go-"that is a rad M525--man is that an i"? --Unless you have a 80's M badge on your 325--then you drive like a maniac. I know people see them out there! Ask anyone, right?

But, I disagree on your last point about the old bmw theory. I recently sold my 85 535i, and it was a real joy, 5 speed and all, bone stock and all original lady driven and I got it at 109k. My friend's 87 535is chipped wasn't as fast as this car. My last race was when I can across a Mustang and a brand new Firebird in the left lanes waiting for the other to hit it on the beltline in raleigh-440. Of course me being behind the mustang, I punched it in second and we all got a real even start with me getting a little jump. With the mustang gone and looking down at 110 dead even with the firebird, I decided to let off. I say everynow and then, bring it on mustangs and to all old Detroit. Of course, I pick my fights, but bring it on mustangs! Thank god I live in North Carolina!
I read on this forum that the '88 528e had twin tailpipes.

Re M-blazoning your car, ask yourself this:

If all owners of non-M e28s who wanted to plaster M badges on their cars did not do so, but instead posted to this board, saying "I wanted to, but I didn't, so that the e28 world would stay the way you want it," what would you think? (I'm a
