Let me just say that I'm not a fan of M-badges on non M cars, but...
When I got my '87 535i it had a big ///M in front of the 535i. I left it on, mostly because I knew that some sap had spent $45 (CDN) on this, and it seemed a shame to just rip it off. I'll get around to ripping it off one of these days I guess. But a few months after I bought the car, I got a parking ticket. On the parking ticket it said my car was a "BMW M535I" That was incorrect (obviously!) I took my registration in with the ticket, showed that I had a 535i and I had no idea where this meter maid was getting the M from, and the ticket was thrown out! So the M badge saved me $50! But yes, I think M badges only belong on M cars.
