I believe that results of a recent survey showed about 84% of people against false badging and only 16% for. The people who seem to make most noise about the subject are those with the "I'm showing my support for M cars" argument, who by doing so are at the same time diluting the exclusivity and prestige of the cars the so admire.

I am also starting to notice a few cars wearing Alpina badges as well, when it is quite evident that they are a standard BMW. You cannot make an Alpina from an existing car, they have to be ordered from new. Adding a load of after-market parts does not an Alpina make.

An Alpina Register is soon to be started in the BMWCC(GB), but unless the owners can provide the necessary proof that the car is a genuine Alpina (Vin number, Alpina build number and build plaque) their cars won't be recognised.
