Albeit one of the most beaten-to-death topics on the Board next to "what other size tires fit these TRX rims" and "what performance mods can I do", I think there's a difference between
people who:

1) de-badge then re-badge their BMW to pose as an "M" vehicle (thus trying to hide the true identity of their car) and...

2) add an "M" badge to whatever vehicle they have (BMW or not) to show support and enthusiasm for the "M" product line.

As the 'new' and very proud owner of Tim In PA's '88 M-car, I consider myself very lucky to have found such a vehicle within a price range I could afford (thanks again, Tim!). Because of this new-found passion, I most definitely plan on placing an ///M badge neatly upon the rear tailgate of my 2001 Ford Expedition (along with my BMW-CCA stickers). Why? To cheapen the M-badge? To make others think I'm the owner of the world's only existing ///Mexpedition? To make Mustangs which pull up next to me at stoplights cower in fear?? No, no and no. To display my support and love (there, I said it) for the "M" products even when I can't be driving mine. And do I secretly hope it'll encourage people to come up to me and talk about their BMWs? I sure do.

Tim
