I've thought of this one... here's my brain child...

use an e30 i head on the eta block, that way you'll get dual valve springs and a better cam. This will lower the compression ratio to about 8:1, but since you're turboing it, you don't care much because you can crank the boost up.

I'd use an exhaust manifold off of a 324td or a 524td if you can find one. I don't know if I'd use the stock turbo off of the 524, but that's a good starting place. I'm not sure of the compatibility of the rest of the turbo gear from the 524, but that shouldn't be much of a problem...

I'd run with an e30 i ecu, but it'd need a custom chip programmed to deal with the unique fuel mapping of the turbo...

In my search for the right e28, I kept an open mind and drove a 528e. The car I drove had a new cat and muffler from Midas, so maybe I didn't drive a good example. Anyway, it was slow and had no "punch" like the 533i, 535i. This particular car was a 5 speed.

There's lots of room under the hood for this little motor, which means lots of room for turbo hardware.

Has anyone here created an eta turbo monster? I really wanted to like this motor, but in stock form (or worse) it didn't get me very excited.

It would be great to hear what people here have done to their eta motors (turbo or otherwise) to get more power than a stock 3.3 or 3.5 litre motor.

Thanks in advance,
Keith.
