In Reply to: Other tires fit TRX rims? posted by Dave H. on December 09, 2001 at 20:16:42:

is that the TRX rims have a specific and unique bead design, apart from being metric (390 mm as opposed to 14, 15, or 16 inches for example). So If you're looking for tires, not only do they have to have the right diameter (390 mm) they have to have the TRX bead design, which neccessitates a TRX tire. It sounds like a line, but if he can give you specific examples of tires that would fit (and prove me wrong) then I would be the one with egg on my face. Keep in mind that I'm not an expert in these matters, although I did recently upgrade to non TRX wheels and tires because of these issues. Good luck,

Kit
83 533i

I'm trying to purchase an '84 533i with TRX rims on it. I'm still a bit confused however about the whole TRX ordeal. I talked to the guy selling the car and he claimed that TRX-sized rims will fit tires that aren't TRX, but there are tires that are less expensive that are a little higher profile. NON-TRX tires fitting TRX rims???? is it true or is this guy just trying to sell me this car?? I apprecitate the help!
