Had this sort of thing happen to my '86 after washing under the hood. Went from poor cold-running to poor warm-running to intermittent stalling with loss of power to not starting. Tightened up chassis grounds, reseated electrical connections under the hood, replaced fouled platinum plugs with Bosch silbers, no problem since.
