that is why i'm confused, don't know why it was replaced that soon but the po also replaced the failure prone trany w/ improved version, guy was a nut, car has 16" racing dynamics, koni adjustables, drilled front rotors, never ate in car or let kids ride in car etc. etc. sold it to me for 3000.00 cause he wanted it to go to a good home. (i have the e12 and an 02)

wow... didn't think it'd go 0-60 that fast... I'll have to take mine out for some tests.

Why did it need a new engine in 87?

I do my hot roddin' in my 87 325is

i took it out and did a 0 to 60 run to check rpm's at shift and et. shifted at 4500 and hit 60 in 8.81. standing start using power brake method for takeoff. maybe speedo is off but i don't think so. car also gets only 20mpg under normal

driving. btw it is an 84 528eA w/ engine replaced in 87 or so by po. oh well, it's a great car and it's my daughters daily driver anyway. so i'll stick to hot roddin' in my 80 528i. thanks for all the help.
