... me with some data on your wheel/tire combination?

You might have noticed that one shortcoming of my E28 Wheel & Tire "Database" is that I only have real-world installed measured section width for a few wheel/tire combinations (as I say on the opening page of the spreadsheet: "Tires have a Design Section Width (DSW) which will be affected by the width of the wheel on which they are mounted; I'm using the term Measured Section Width (MSW) to represent this actual installed width. If there is no MSW for a particular combination, an actual measurement has not been recorded. In that case, you should be wary of all tire-size-dependent calculations; consider the gaps to be reduced by at least .3"; wheel-size-dependent calculations are not affected by this.").

I'd appreciate it greatly if you could measure the bulge-to-bulge width of those 17" tires that you have. A framing square lying perpendicularly across the tread with an arm touching the bulge works great for this; the 90-degree angle eliminates parallax errors from the eyeball method. Just mark somewhere close to the tire centerline, measure one side to that line, then the other, and add them.

As usual, all contributors receive credit for their data.

TIA,
Shawn D.
