... I'd say that you should replace your head unit. An EQ will only give you more noise/hiss if you try to boost a poor treble signal.
You must have had the OEM head unit without the amp, correct? Otherwise, you'd have a floating ground problem.
Are you running speaker-level inputs into your new amp? That's another reason to change the head unit, so you can go to preamp inputs.
Additionally, does your car have the satellite tweeters in the front doors inside of the mirrors?
I installed new amp and speakers keeping head unit but still don't get nice highs on tweeters. Is this reelated to crappy head unit? Do I need an EQ?
